I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm usually one that's happy to just sit in the corner and watch, or be doing something behind the scenes like the support crew, but I had 3 goals when I started my blog (a year ago this coming weekend.) The first was to meet at least one of my blogging buddies in person. (I've gotten to meet 2 and spoken to another one on the phone several times.) My second goal was to make the Cricut Top 40 at least once-check, and the third goal was to be on a DT. Well, I'm never gonna make this 3rd one if I don't start applying so... here goes! And now that I'm actually trying, I'm scared to think of how long and how many tries it is going to take to make this goal.
Most of you that I "talk" with on a regular basis are already on DT's, so how long/how many tries did it take you? I'm not sure if I'm hoping you say "several tries and several months" or if you say "not long at all." I guess it will all depend on how long and how many tries it takes me, if I can make one at all, lol.
OK all you regular blogging buddies, let me know if you've got any good tips (other than the obvious like "you've got to apply") and send me some luck now too...please.
The stamps are the Peachy Keen Gingerbread Dolls set and Stampabilities for the sentiment, the papers are DCWV except the gumdrop background paper which is homemade/handstamped by yours truly.
Thats an amazing card!!! With a card like that you'd be a shoe in on my blog....if I had DT's. Best of luck!! Its on my to do list one day too.

Tami, this card is absolutely PRECIOUS! I love your handmade gumdrop background paper. It is terrific! And that little ginger couldn't be cuter. The whole design is just beautiful! I always love your creations.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the design team thing goes, before Emma had invited me to be on her team, I had tried out about 5 times to be on a design team and got rejected every time. Now I will admit that I'm kind of picky about the teams that I will try out for, so I'm sure that is part of it. I have to really LOVE their product. And actually the only design team that I have tried out for and made the team was the guest design team for PKS last year. So, I just feel really blessed that Emma found me because I love her stamps and she has been amazing to work with. I wish you the best of luck!!! Hugs- Glora
Super cute..good luck

ReplyDeleteI think it is FANTASTIC. I think your work is great and if I had a site where I needed some DT's. I WOULD pick you. I found that constantly doing cards for 3 sites you really love on a regular basics will get you notice. I didn't realize I was doing it but I wonder back to my favorite places.

Tami, I was just over at Emma blog, and I looked at the "competition" and if you don't get picked, then the earth must have fallen off it's axis(I really don't know what means)haha, but you should get picked, I LOVE this card, it made me smile!! If for some crazy reason, that you are not designing for Emma, I know that someone else with snap you up. I have never tried out for a design team, but I am sure that it is not easy, there are a bunch of really, really talented people out there in bloggerville, and the right blog will come along, and you will be awesome!! Karen♥
ReplyDeleteHi, Tami! I love this card and your background paper is absolutely adorable and perfect for this design. You colored the gingerbread cookie perfectly too! I think Emma would be fortunate to have you on her team. It took me a while to get on my first team and it seemed like after the first one, it became easier each time. The Outlawz invited me to join right after I won their monthly Oozak prize. I think it's just getting noticed that's the hard part. But don't give up if you don't make it the first time. What I would suggest is to apply for teams that work well with your crafting style and your favorite project type. The reason I say this is because I tried out a couple of times for stamp makers who obviously prefer Cricut people and even though I have a Cricut and Silhouette machine, that's not what I want to spend most of my time doing so in retrospect, it's just as well that I wasn't chosen. Good luck to you, my friend! I sure hope you make it!
